Note: this list has been updated in 2017. Make sure to check out all the lists to see if your business has been mentioned.

We wrote an article back in 2010 about 10 Australian Directories offering free listings. This article was so popular that we still have people reading it in 2015. Unfortunately, 2010 is a long time ago now and some of those directories simply no longer exist.

Because of that, we have created an updated list of directories that you can use for free to get some links pointing to your website. While directories do vary in quality and traffic, we have made sure to list those that bring in good sources of traffic, and will be beneficial to your website.

Things To Remember When Submitting Directory Listings

  • Don’t forget to confirm your submission through the confirmation email. Due to the volume that some of these directories receive, they will cancel your article listing within 48 hours if you have not confirmed.
  • For directories that allow you to write a biography, make sure that it clearly states what the business does. The goal here is for someone to read your information and choose your listing over your competitors.
  • Make sure that your contact number, email and website are correct in the listing. Not only could you miss out on potential leads but some directories may remove your listing completely.

Choose the right category for your business. If you want people to be able to find your business in the directory then make sure that you have placed your listing in the right category, otherwise you simply won't be exposed.
