At Matter Solutions we make no secret of the fact that we love WordPress, let me point out just a few of the reasons why we do…
Blogging is great for SEO and WordPress is great at Blogging
If you’re going to build a website, you’re going to need some traffic. One of the best ways to improve traffic to your site is to regularly add new and relevant content. Having a Blog or News feed in your site is a great way of getting some fresh content in there without having to squeeze in new pages or sections. Despite having evolved into a fully functional, professional content management system it should be pointed out that WordPress started out in life as a simple blogging platform, so essentially, blogging is just one of the things WordPress does better than everyone else.
Easy to use, tough to break
WordPress themes are incredibly simple to use. You don’t need to know any coding or web developer tricks; you don’t even need to know how to spell HTML. Adding or editing a new page is about as complicated as using Word, and that’s not very complicated at all now is it? However, the beauty of WordPress as a CMS is how it completely distances the user from all the complicated stuff, meaning it’s very difficult for you to trip over something and break your shiny new website.
Open source means endless support
WordPress is what’s called an ‘open source platform’; this means it is constantly being tweaked and improved by the very people who use it on a daily basis. It gets regular free updates several times a year with an emphasis on practical things like security, usability and just staying ahead of the game in general. If you are in need of some specific help, a quick Google search will show you that there are loads of experienced WordPress users out there willing to lend a hand.
Plugins are great
Plugins are wonderfully useful little nuggets of functionality that plug in (strangely enough) to your site to add whatever features you require. Like WordPress, they too are open source, so they are always built with a specific, practical purpose in mind. Most of them are free too! So if you need to add a new contact form, put a snazzy image slider on your home page or have your sites admin screen sing you Louis Armstrong, there’s probably a plugin out there for you. Most of them are free too!

Despite being deathly ill with some child brewed illness I can’t help but offer advice when I see people with the wrong ideas and on an email list I’m a part of I came across someone earlier today in that category. Last week I decided that it was time to branch out and find bigger and better ways to link build. As much as I enjoy Outreach link building and the quality of links that it can provide, the conversion rate and the amount of time it takes had me pretty close to losing the plot. Read more
